LINKPlanner Online: The Compounding Power of Small Wins

By Seth Poche

If there’s a theme to LINKPlanner in 2025, it’s this: big moments are built out of small, relentless improvements. Our team ships the obvious stuff—new capabilities, performance boosts, support for the latest Cambium products—but the real magic shows up in the dozens of thoughtful, almost invisible decisions that make planning faster, clearer, and easier every single day.

Version 6.3.5 is our fourth major release this year, and one more is still on the way. That cadence reflects how we work: listen closely, iterate quickly, and let the details compound into outsized impact.

Why Online Wins (and Now, Clearly Surpasses Desktop)

When we first launched LINKPlanner Online, the goal wasn’t feature parity; it was a better planning experience. Today, it’s decisively ahead of Desktop:

  • Quicker to start: no installers, no IT tickets—just sign in and plan.
  • Easier to use: cleaner flows, smarter defaults, fewer clicks.
  • Never out of date: the latest models, features, and fixes are always there.

The result is a tool that helps you fortify your network design process without adding friction.

v6.3.5: Small Features, Big Outcomes

We’ve learned that the “little things” often unlock the biggest productivity gains—especially at scale.

  • Bring your world onto the map
Earlier this year we added support for importing geometry layers (points, lines, polygons). With v6.3.5, you can now upload images too.
Real story: One customer planning a campground overlaid the venue map directly in LINKPlanner. That simple visual context turned guesswork into precision.
  • Hover for confidence
Elements on the map now subtly grow on hover. It sounds tiny—until you’re selecting from dozens of items and need to move quickly and accurately.
  • Tables that work the way you do
Customizable columns let you focus on the fields that matter. Bulk editing turns repetitive updates into a single, confident action—perfect for large networks where every second (and every step) counts.
  • Always current with our product teams
As always, we stay aligned with Cambium product updates, so your designs track the latest capabilities and best practices.

The Philosophy Behind the Roadmap

We’re not chasing features for features’ sake. We’re designing a planning environment where:

  • Context is easy to bring in (layers, images, data).
  • Interaction is effortless (hover, selection, clarity).
  • Scale is normal (custom tables, bulk actions).
  • Freshness is a given (cloud delivery, always current).

Dozens of micro-wins, release after release—that’s how LINKPlanner Online keeps pulling ahead.

What’s Next

We’re lining up one more major release this year. You’ll see more on precise planning, collaboration, and speed—areas where small adjustments can maximize day-to-day momentum.

See it for yourself. Take a guided tour of LINKPlanner Online.

If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to switch from Desktop—or to revisit your planning workflow—this is it.
