Powering Hospitality: Cambium Networks and Heritage Hotels Upgrade the Guest Experience

By Ray Savich   January 27, 2018

Heritage Hotels selected Cambium solutions to expand the Wi-Fi offerings available to guests of their breathtaking Kenya property, the Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort. With the help of local ISP and VAR (value-added reseller) Embarq Ltd, the Lodge’s IT team needed only 12 weeks to plan and deploy the large scale Cambium upgrade, composed of four ePMP™ 1000 access points, with 147 each of both cnPilot™ ePMP Outdoor Subscriber Modules and cnPilot™ e400 Indoor Wi-Fi access points.

“The residential and business premises within the resort are distributed across the property in
clusters or standalone units,” said Kungu. “The network design had to be able to designate each of the existing and planned user locations into clusters that can then be mapped onto the distribution layer of the proposed network.” Daniel Kungu, Heritage Hotels Group IT Manager

The upgrade transformed the decade-old, increasingly unreliable coverage across 100 guest rooms into consistent, scalable coverage for over 300 – plus high-density capacity for events and conferences that can demand connectivity for several hundred simultaneous users.
