ROLLING MEADOWS, IL, June 21, 2017 — Eurona Ireland, a leading wireless internet service provider (ISP), together with Irish tech firm Azotel, has made a significant step to eliminate the digital divide and offer high-speed wireless broadband connectivity for residents in Counties Longford, Cavan, Roscommon and Leitrim. The service provider has deployed the industry leading PMP 450m, with cnMedusa™ technology, from Cambium Networks™, a leading global provider of wireless broadband solutions. Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Denis Naughten officially launched the high-speed wireless broadband service at an event in Viewmount House, Longford.

“Business and residential customers in Longford now have the latest wireless broadband technology,” said Barry Wilson, CEO, Eurona IRL. “People can now stream videos, upload and download data at high speed. This capability gives people with multiple devices in a household or business the opportunity to have reliable high-speed connectivity. This is great news for the people of Longford and surrounding counties and rural communities beyond the reach of fiber technology.”

“The National Broadband Plan has been contending with rural connectivity since 2012,” said John O’Hare, CEO of Azotel, the Irish tech firm providing network and management solutions to service providers. “PMP 450 is already a proven wireless technology to connect customers beyond the reach of fibre. For the existing base of Azotel Operators, and the operators already deploying PMP 450 from Cambium Networks, cnMedusa now offers the ability to quadruple capacity on these networks without the need for additional spectrum. Service providers can, from today, rapidly deploy cost effective, next-generation broadband services to remote rural areas.”

“PMP 450m delivers high performance across a network by only changing out the Access Point,” said Matt Mangriotis, Global Director of Product Management for Cambium Networks. “Proven in multiple deployments around the world, cnMedusa technology, utilizing Massive Multi-User MIMO techniques, simultaneously communicates with up to seven existing PMP 450 Subscriber Modules at once, dramatically increasing sector capacity.”

For fixed wireless broadband, the PMP 450m is the first commercially available massive multi-user, multiple-input, multiple-output (MU-MIMO) platform. Operating in the unlicensed 5 GHz spectrum, the PMP 450m 14×14 integrated antenna array exceeds both 802.11ac Wave 2 and LTE-A planned implementation of 8×8, and yields the ability to support up to seven simultaneous carrier chains.
