ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., July 28, 2014 — Cambium Networks™, a global leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, today announced the PTP 650 platform received the FCC grant to operate in the U-NII-1 band covering 5150 to 5250 MHz. The platform is comprised of PTP 650, 650S, and 650L.

Existing users of the PTP 650 platform can immediately access the additional 100 MHz spectrum via download of software release 01-21. A license key is required to enable release 01-21’s functionality, and can be retrieved at no charge from the Cambium Networks support page.

“This new spectrum was not previously in use, and is not subject to dynamic frequency selection or radar detection. With higher power limits, the PTP 650 offers longer range and higher capacity to reach more customers with new applications,” said Scott Imhoff, vice president, product management, Cambium Networks. “The PTP 650’s spectrum flexibility, combined with its high spectral efficiency and channel size flexibility, make deploying sub-6 GHz solutions even easier.”

Key features of the PTP 650 platform are:

Frequency range: 4.9 to 6.05 GHz

Capacity:

  • PTP 650 and 650S: up to 450 Mbps aggregate throughput (45 MHz channel)
  • PTP 650L: up to 100 Mbps, upgradeable to 300 Mbps

Channel size:

  • PTP 650 and 650S: 5 to 45 MHz channel bandwidth flexibility
  • PTP 650L: 5 and 10 MHz, upgradable to 30 MHz

Through Cambium Networks’ patented technology, Dynamic Spectrum Optimization, the PTP 650 achieves maximum reliability through link optimization, and offers a wealth of management services. The PTP 650 deflects cyber-security threats through its data encryption and secure management features. This application-rich platform can be leveraged in a variety of networks to suit a wide range of needs.

The PTP 650 is easy for technicians to install and maintain. With a built-in spectrum analyzer, installation crews can quickly locate available spectrum and troubleshoot the environment as needed. Once online, the PTP 650 rapidly adapts to changing field conditions with fast Adaptive Modulation (AMOD), greatly increasing link reliability and efficiency.

Even prior to purchase, potential customers can use PTP LINKPlanner, Cambium Networks’ next-generation customized tool for designing and configuring point-to-point links. With LINKPlanner, interested parties can input scenarios based on geography, distance, antenna height, transmit power and other factors to predict and optimize system performance before purchase.
