WiFi coverage was deployed by Eolo SpA, a leading wireless ISP in Italy.
Due to the interactive nature of the Wikimania gatherings, where more than 1,000 people meet, discuss, and collaborate during the three-day structured conference, it is critical to the success of the events that ubiquitous high capacity broadband is readily available to the attendees. The geographical location of this year’s event, a small village in a remote valley, made Wikimania a perfect showcase opportunity for an advanced wireless broadband installation.
At one point in the conference, more than 800 users were simultaneously logged in on the WiFi network. The cnPilot system utilized bandwidth shaping features to manage uplink and downlink speeds for all users to ensure a consistent user experience and meet the demanding service level agreement.
