San Jose, December 23, 2013: Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, India’s premier independent university, along with BITSAA, its global alumni association, today announced that 25 of its alumni will ring the opening bell for NASDAQ at 9:30 Eastern.

Distinguished BITS graduates (dubbed BITSians) participating in this honor include Raju Reddy, Chairman of BITSAA International and Advisor to Chairman, Hitachi Data Systems, SP Kothari, Deputy Dean and the Gordon Y Billard Professor of Management at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, Prem Jain, co-founder of Insieme Networks, Atul Bhatnagar, CEO of Cambium Networks, Preetish Nijhawan, co-founder of Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM), Viggy Mokkarala, Executive Vice President, Envestnet, Inc. (NYSE:ENV), Nasir Memon, Professor and Department Chairman, Computer Sciences and Engineering, NYU, Shashikant Khandelwal, co-founder and CTO of TheFind, and 21 other BITS alumni spanning the fields of healthcare, academia and finance, in addition to technology. These leaders work all over the globe and have been responsible for the creation of thousands of jobs worldwide.

Global alumni of BITS, the #1 private institute for engineering in India in the India Today magazine rankings for Indian engineering colleges for 2013, are assembling in the Hyderabad, India campus of BITS Pilani in January 2014 for the second BITS Global Meet to assess and find ways to accelerate their impact on society globally.
